Spotlight - Official Site
Client: Open Road Films

Overview
Spotlight is about a remarkable group of people who had the courage and tenacity to reveal an unthinkable scandal in the Catholic Church. Their moral compass and bravery helped thousands of innocent victims and brought justice to an organization that was viewed by many as untouchable.
For the film’s official site, we wanted to create an experience that focused on the news team behind the story - the complex, multi-layered people who each contributed to revealing the injustice in their own way. Each character had a purpose and a perspective that was different from the other, and it was important for us to express that via written and visual content.

As users navigate through the experience, they are able to explore the individual roles of each team member, uncover their motivations, learn about their point of view and discover what all of these elements mean. Impactful headlines and sub-lines give the site an editorial feel and lead users to engage with film-driven pieces of shareable content, creating a bridge to the real team behind the story. The site also includes linkage to the real story and side by side comparisons of the cast and the actual journalists who led the investigation.

Our hope was to help audiences understand why the Spotlight team was so important and inspire them to have the courage to do the right thing under incredibly difficult circumstances. I personally felt a sense of honor working on this project and took pride in our efforts helping the film win the Oscar for Best Picture.
